Who is Coretta Jackson and what does she stand for?

Why I am running for Bloomington City Council Ward 7?

As a candidate for Ward 7, my primary reason for running is to civically and politically engage the constituents of Ward 7.

What do I support?

People over policies! As a graduate from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science I understand the importance of policy change on the National level but how can I be the best candidate for Ward 7 if I don't address local issues and policy changes?

Community re-investment:

  • Physical Health

    • Family Fitness and Health Center

      • I propose a Family Fitness and Health Center located in Ward 7. The majority of our community Heath Centers are located East. This proposal will combat the accessibility of Health Centers by members of Bloomington's Westside commiunity. Not only will it serve as a high-tech Health Facility but this proposal could cultivate community stakeholders' investment in the Bloomington community. Stakeholders such as Chestnut Health Services, OSF, McLean County Health Department, Center for Human Services, and BroMenn Medical Facility.

  • Food Accessibility

    • The Market Street Grocery Store

      • Ward 7 residents need and deserve affordable access to FRESH FOOD. Right now this project is at a standstill and Ward 7 residents deserve answers. What is the City of Bloomington doing to move this imperative project forward?

  • Education

The residents of Ward 7 should know if their tax dollars are being allocated to District 87 schools? What is the CIty doing to encourage students to seek education beyond high school outside of traditional higher education? School vs. municipality, which prevails and how?

  • Proposal: Heartland Community College Satellite Center

    • This center will focus on basic employment skills, ranging from interviewing skills, cover letter and resume writing, etc. Is the City of Bloomington and community stakeholders willing to invest in the youth of Bloomington's Westside?

  • Community Wealth

    • The Market Street Plaza has four proposed businesses. During the preliminary talks, only ONE business is owned by a Ward 7 resident. What percentage of stores will be owned/operated by local community members? What percentage of Westside residents will be employed by businesses located in the proposed plaza?

"I may not have all of the answers, but I do have questions just like you. Not only do I have questions but I am ready to actively work towards solutions that will work in the best interest of the community I represent. I promise a vote for me is a vote for your voice to be heard. I am a candidate for the people of Ward 7!"
